According to the regulator, 13 of these operators were each handed a €5 million fine for committing “very serious” offences

Spain’s General Directorate for the Regulation of Gambling (DGOJ) has imposed financial sanctions totalling €77.4 million (£66.4 million) on 14 gambling operators found to be offering illegal betting services to Spanish players.

The named companies facing penalties include Wot NV, Magicwin Games Tech LTD, Winbet NV, Spicyjackpots Games Tech LTD, Lama Tech Limited, Chestoption LLC, Pennytech Holding BV, Group Gaem BV, Mibs NV, FGS Software Solutions SRL, Investan NV, Tinietech Holding BV, Adonio NV, and Techsolutions Group NV.

According to the regulator, 13 of these operators were each handed a €5 million fine for committing “very serious” offences, largely relating to operating without a licence. One operator, which was not identified in the announcement, received a harsher penalty of €10 million. All 14 companies have also been banned from operating in Spain for at least two years.

“These sanctions reflect the DGOJ’s commitment to consumer protection and strict compliance with the legal framework for gambling in Spain, especially against unauthorised operators who jeopardise the safety of players,” the regulator stated.

This enforcement action follows the DGOJ’s first-ever anti-money laundering summit for the gaming sector, held in February, where regulators and stakeholders gathered to strengthen oversight and cooperation across the Spanish gambling industry.
