The Governor’s commitment to supporting the gaming industry is evident not only in his presence at such events but also in the active measures taken by the Lagos State government to foster growth in the sector. “That’s one of the ways is to validate what they do,” he remarked, referring to the government’s initiative to create an environment conducive to business and innovation.

The introduction of artificial intelligence (AI) in the gaming sector was also a key topic during the interview. Sanwo-Olu discussed AI’s role as a transformative tool, poised to propel the industry into a globally competitive sector. He acknowledged, “Using AI, which is the new boss in the world,” is essential for developing the gaming industry in Nigeria.

As the conversation progressed, it became increasingly clear that Governor Sanwo-Olu viewed the support of the gaming industry as a model for other African governments. He urged his counterparts across the continent to follow Lagos’ example by actively participating in and supporting the growth of local gaming businesses.

Lastly, Sanwo-Olu expressed optimism about Africa’s potential to revolutionize its gaming industry and compete globally, stating, “We don’t have any excuse not to be able to compete globally.” He also highlighted the necessity of responsible gaming practices, affirming that the regulatory environment must ensure that the industry operates in a manner that is globally acceptable and responsible.
