As excitement mounts ahead of the highly anticipated Enugu Gaming Conference 2025, iGaming AFRIKA caught up with Prince Arinze Arum, the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Enugu State Gaming and Lotto Commission (ESGC).

In this exclusive conversation, Prince Arum offered a sneak peek into what attendees can expect from this landmark event. Scheduled for July 30th–31st at the International Conference Centre, Enugu, the conference will revolve around the compelling theme: “From Unification to Diversification – Shaping Nigeria’s Gaming Future.“

iGaming AFRIKA: Introduce us to Enugu Gaming Conference 2025.

Prince Arinze Arum: The Enugu Gaming Conference 2025 is more than just an event—it’s a national conversation. We’re gathering everyone connected to gaming in Nigeria and beyond to explore how we’re shifting from a one-size-fits-all national system to a more diverse, state-driven model that works better for everyone.

It’s happening this July right here in Enugu, and it promises to be bigger, bolder, and more impactful than anything we’ve done before. We’re talking regulators, operators, tech innovators, lawyers, investors—you name it. If you’re in the gaming space or watching it closely, this is where you want to be.

iGaming AFRIKA: What is the mission behind the launch of the Enugu State Gaming Conference 2025?

Prince Arinze Arum: Our mission is pretty simple: bring people together to move the industry forward. Gaming in Nigeria is growing fast, and with that growth comes new questions: Who regulates what? How do we protect players? How do we build trust and innovation?

This conference is where those conversations happen. We want to make sure that as the system evolves, no one is left behind—not the states, not the operators, and definitely not the players. This event is where we hope to start or even conclude this conversation.

iGaming AFRIKA: Who is the target audience for this event?

Prince Arinze Arum: Honestly, anyone with a stake in gaming should be at this conference. Whether you’re running a lottery platform, working with fintech, offering sports betting, building compliance systems, designing software, analyzing the gaming industry in any way or just trying to understand where gaming is headed in Nigeria—this is your platform. We’re also bringing in government reps, lawmakers, international experts, and even youth innovators. It’s for everyone who wants to help shape where we’re going next.

iGaming AFRIKA: What do attendees stand to gain from the conference?

Prince Arinze Arum: Plenty. You’ll get:

  • First-hand updates on where gaming regulation in Nigeria is headed. Insight into what compliance looks like across different states.
  • Access to partners, clients, regulators, and investors all in one place.
  • A chance to see new tools, technologies, and strategies that can take your business forward.
  • And of course, you’ll be part of a growing community that’s serious about building a better gaming industry.

It’s two days that could literally change the way you operate—or think about the Gaming industry.

iGaming AFRIKA: What makes Enugu state an ideal location to host the event?

Prince Arinze Arum: Enugu is setting the pace. We’ve built one of the most functional and transparent state gaming commissions in the country. We have strong leadership, a clear legal framework, and we’re not afraid to innovate.

But beyond that, Enugu is safe, accessible, and full of hospitality. We’ve got the infrastructure, the people, and the energy to host a national and even continental audience. So yes, we’re proud of what Enugu represents—and we think it’s the perfect home for this conversation about the future.

Additionally, Gaming is synonimous with leisure and that also equates to tourisim…both attributes are what Enugu is ambitious about. A synergy between our growing hospitality and tourism offerings and the Gaming industry will be a perfect combo…and we are not shy to promote it.

Finally, our youth and productive population has been on an upward trajectory with the state’s GDP amongst the most improved in the country, thereby making the state very viable for gaming operations.

iGaming AFRIKA: What are some of the facts around the gaming industry in Enugu state?

Prince Arinze Arum: Aside the fact that Enugu’s gaming sector is growing fast and responsibly, we have licensed a lot more operators, including both local and international platforms, within the last 2 years.

We also have a team that’s actively engaging communities, conducting inspections, and ensuring compliance. We’re rolling out good cause initiatives to channel part of gaming revenues into areas like education, youth sports, and healthcare.

Our regulation is tech-driven, and we’re committed to transparency, accountability, and public trust. We’re not just regulating—we’re helping to build a sector that creates jobs, boosts the economy, and supports social development.

iGaming AFRIKA: Can you highlight some of the key speakers who will be participating in the event?

Prince Arinze Arum: We’ve got an amazing lineup! I’ll be speaking, of course—along with other state CEOs of other State Gaming Commissions. We’re bringing in heavyweights in the gaming and finance spaces as well as representatives from the fintech space. The complete lineup of speakers will be made public in due course. But you can be rest assured that it’s going to be a room full of smart people who know this industry and want to make it better.

iGaming AFRIKA: This being the second edition of the event, how do you plan to make it bigger and better than last year?

Prince Arinze Arum: Well, we’ve learned a lot from last year—and this time, we’re scaling up. We’re hosting it at the new International Conference Centre in Enugu, which can take a bigger crowd and offer better facilities. It’s also now a full two-day event with more panels, breakout sessions, and networking spaces.

We’re also introducing new segments like the Gaming Leaders Roundtable and the Responsible Gaming Showcase. We’ll also be using the opportunity to launch our “Rangers Dream Big Raffle” and giving room for new products and services to be unveiled live on stage. We’re keeping the energy high, the conversations real, and the opportunities wide open.

iGaming AFRIKA: What is your message to anyone you’d like to invite to the event?

Prince Arinze Arum: Our message is this: Gaming in Nigeria is changing—and the decisions we make today will define the industry for years to come. If you want to be in the room where those decisions are being shaped, join us in Enugu this July. Whether you’re a regulator, investor, operator, tech innovator, or just curious about the space, this conference is where it all comes together. Let’s move together—from unification to diversification—and build a gaming future that works for Nigeria.
