The sports betting market in Malawi is experiencing a major shift, driven by the Malawi Gaming & Lotteries Authority (MAGLA) and its commitment to protecting players, ensuring tax compliance, and improving transparency across the industry.

A key part of this effort is the use of advanced technology to monitor betting activity and enforce regulations. At the core is iSTrust, the centralized monitoring system developed by  iSolutions, a tech company based in Parma, Italy, with over 25 years of experience in gaming  regulation and data infrastructure.

Following an international tender, MAGLA selected iSolutions to design and implement the digital backbone of Malawi’s new gaming oversight model. The iSTrust monitoring system has now been in full operation for over a year, authorizing, tracking, and recording every  online transaction in real time. One of its most impactful features is the automated  calculation of taxes owed by operators, which increases compliance, simplifies reporting,  and builds trust in the system.
