The February total was down from the CA$328m reported in January.
Ontario’s online gaming market experienced a monthly decline in February, with total revenue dropping 15 per cent to CA$280.1m, according to figures released by iGaming Ontario.
The February total was down from the CA$328m reported in January. However, despite the monthly dip, the market continues to show strong year-on-year growth—non-adjusted gross gaming revenue was up significantly from CA$211.4m in February 2024.
Total online wagers reached CA$7.1bn in February, marking a nine per cent drop from the previous month’s CA$7.8bn. Compared to the same period last year, though, wagers increased considerably from CA$5.6bn, reflecting the market’s ongoing expansion.
Online casino gaming once again dominated the sector, accounting for CA$6.07bn of the total wagers and generating CA$213.8m in revenue. This vertical alone represented 85 per cent of total wagers and 76 per cent of all revenue generated in February.
Sports betting and player-to-player poker followed in performance. Betting activity saw CA$930m in wagers and CA$61.5m in revenue, while poker contributed CA$130m in wagers and CA$4.8m in revenue.
While the month-on-month downturn may raise some eyebrows, the annual growth figures suggest Ontario’s iGaming market is still on an upward trajectory, led predominantly by strong performance in the online casino segment.
