The ASA raised concerns over paid ads on TikTok that implied users could win real-world money or tangible prizes
The UK’s Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has taken action against five advertisers, banning their ads for social casino games due to misleading content.
The ASA raised concerns over paid ads on TikTok that implied users could win real-world money or tangible prizes. However, these claims were found to be false.
The advertisers involved in the ruling are Dataverse (trading as Gamehaus), Huuuge Global (trading as Billionaire Casino), Mobee Co (trading as Ignite Classic Slots), SpinX Games, and Zeroo Gravity Games (trading as Cash Tornado).
Social casino games mimic popular casino games like slot machines, but the ASA clarified that no real-world money or prizes can be won or withdrawn from these apps.
The ads failed to disclose this, leading consumers to believe they could win tangible rewards. This breach of advertising standards is part of the ASA’s wider investigation into gambling-like ads, following reports of misleading practices.
The five companies must now revise their advertising to comply with ASA standards. The banned ads are no longer permitted in their current form, and the ASA will continue to monitor this area closely to ensure future ads clearly communicate the non-monetary nature of these games.
